CPR Reference Card

Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation — Adult · Child · Infant · AED

Training reference only. In a real emergency, call emergency services and follow local protocols. Not a substitute for hands-on accredited training.

ASSESS All ages
  • Check scene safety before approaching
  • Tap shoulders firmly: "Are you OK?"
  • If unresponsive: shout for help / call EMS
  • Head-tilt chin-lift → check breathing ≤10 sec
  • Agonal gasps = NOT normal breathing → begin CPR

ADULT Age 8+
  • 30 compressions : 2 breaths
  • Centre of chest, heel of hand
  • Depth: 5–6 cm  |  Rate: 100–120/min
  • Allow full chest recoil between compressions
  • Hands-only CPR acceptable if no training
  • Swap compressors every 2 min

CHILD Age 1–8
  • 30:2 lone rescuer  |  15:2 two providers
  • 1 or 2 hands — whichever achieves depth ~5 cm
  • Smaller breaths — chest rise only
  • Rate: 100–120/min
  • AED: paediatric pads preferred

INFANT Under 1 yr
  • 30:2 lone  |  15:2 two providers
  • 2 fingers, below nipple line, depth ~4 cm
  • Cover mouth AND nose for breaths
  • Neutral head position — don't hyperextend
  • 2-thumb encircling technique if two rescuers

AED Follow voice prompts
  • 1. Power ON → follow voice prompts
  • 2. Right pad: below right collarbone
         Left pad: below left armpit
  • 3. Stand clear → ANALYSE
  • 4. If shock advised: everyone clear → SHOCK
  • 5. Resume CPR immediately after shock
  • 6. Repeat every 2 min until EMS arrives
⚡ Paediatric key/pads for child <8yr. If unavailable: one pad front, one pad back.
